Tongue-Tie Release

in Upper East Side, NY

Tongue tie is a condition in which the frenulum (band of tissue under the tongue) tightly tethers the tongue to the floor of the mouth, which results in limited movement of the tongue. Likewise, lip tie is a condition where a thick band of tissue that attaches to the lip to the gum is short and tight, which restricts the movement of the lip and can cause a gap between the two front teeth.

These conditions can impact infants, toddlers, children, adolescents and adults.

Infants and mothers may experience symptoms such as difficulty and painful nursing, poor latching and poor weight gain, inability to hold a pacifier or bottle, reflux, dribbling milk during feeding and frustration when feeding.

Toddlers, children, adolescents and adults may experience speech difficulties, prolonged meal times or sleep disordered breathing from an undiagnosed and untreated tethered tissue.

At SLim Dental, we use the latest laser technology to release lip-ties and tongue-ties.
